Happiness in the Simplest Form

HAPPINESS

I ASKED the professors who teach the meaning of life to tell
     me what is happiness.
And I went to famous executives who boss the work of
     thousands of men.
They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though
I was trying to fool with them
And then one Sunday afternoon I wandered out along
     the Desplaines river
And I saw a crowd of Hungarians under the trees with
their women and children and a keg of beer and an
     accordion.

      Carl Sandburg

This is a writing that has stuck with me since college. Lately I have been able to take a step back and look to my surroundings for answers of different questions, one being that of happiness. Happiness is sometimes a crutch to get something that we want; to attain a physical item that guarantees at least a day of bliss.

Typically we have many things to be happy about, however, if you are anything like me, sometimes the negativity outweighs the positive.

So, with the help of a recent purchase, happiness filled the house.....

Not only did I purchase a record player. This is a reminder of simplicity.

Not only did the Padres have an awesome collection, but they have the greatest song ever....on vinyl!!!

So, this purchase has turned into the accordion from Sandburg's discovery. I have found us many times surrounding the record player listening to some wonderful tunes, with a beverage, and laughs discussing the good times had and the ones to come.  Oh, the simplicity of happiness.....hoping to continue to surround myself with family and friends, with good tunes......
